John has extensive litigation experience with particular expertise in handling professional indemnity disputes. He started his career managing claims for the London market. He therefore understands the market's requirements. He was one of the first to use mediation to resolve a dispute long before it became fashionable.

John also has considerable experience drafting professional indemnity policies. He has advised most of the London professional indemnity market on some aspect of their policy wordings. His experience in drafting policies gives him an invaluable insight when differences arise on the interpretation of a policy provision. He has used this insight to obtain successful outcomes for his clients on many occasions. John is qualified as a solicitor in England and Ireland.

John is a solicitor with over thirty years' experience of insurance and other commercial litigation, in both private practice and in-house. John has extensive experience in professional negligence liability claims including those against construction professionals, solicitors, barristers, insurance brokers, managing agents, accountants and surveyors. He also has expertise in disputes relating to professional indemnity insurance policies.

John's career includes being a Practice Manager for a leading professional indemnity underwriting agency. In that role he managed claims handling and litigation under delegated authorities, drafted policy wordings and dealt with compliance issues. John qualified as a fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1990, a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute in 1999 and is a solicitor in the Republic of Ireland.

Robert has more than 20 years of experience as a solicitor with expertise in dispute resolution relating to insurance, construction, professional negligence, professional conduct, statutory liabilities, reinsurance, shipping and legal costs. He has handled many cases concerning architects', engineers' and contractors' professional and contractual liabilities, often with significant technical dimensions, in a variety of industries including energy and transport. He also has extensive experience in relation to liabilities of financial advisers and actuaries.

Robert has undertaken advocacy in final hearings in the County Court, private arbitrations and adjudications, and before disciplinary panels.

Robert is an insurance market intellectual with degrees from Cambridge and UCLA and recently obtained a post graduate degree at Kings College in strategic war studies. He insists that analysis of strategy is directly applicable to litigation which is always about the goals that can be realistically obtained with finite means.

Philip is a dual qualified New York Attorney and English Solicitor with over 20 years insurance and construction industry experience. Having worked in both London and New York, Philip has extensive experience of litigation and arbitration in the UK and the US.

Philip’s practice advises on contentious and non-contentious matters primarily involving professionals or business directors and officers (particularly the construction, engineering, environmental, and legal professions) and advising on insurance and reinsurance wordings, coverage and disputes. His non-contentious practice includes advising on construction projects and contracts, environmental and corporate social responsibility issues, as well as IT/IP matters and "Smart City" initiatives.

Dominic Collier

Dominic specialises in professional negligence and insurance litigation on behalf of insurers, brokers and corporate clients as well as general commercial litigation. His professional liability practice focuses on claims against a wide range of professionals with a particular focus on insurance brokers, solicitors and professionals within the construction sector including architects, contract administrators, engineers, project managers and surveyors.

Dominic has litigated claims at all levels including the TCC and has extensive experience of resolving claims within the Pre Action Protocols and in mediation, adjudication and other forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Janet Williams

Janet specialises in professional negligence and insurance litigation. She has acted on behalf of a wide range of professionals, including those involved in the construction industry (architects, engineers, surveyors) and the financial services sector, and solicitors. She has also been involved in coverage and D&O disputes.

She has extensive experience of litigation in the English courts, as well as international arbitration. She aims to resolve claims effectively, whether through court proceedings, Pre-Action Protocols or Alternative Dispute Resolution, such as mediation. Janet has been involved in a number of high profile cases.

Prior to joining Caytons Law, she worked for a number of years with a leading specialist professional indemnity practice.

Fiona Buckley

Following the completion of a Master's Degree in Law, Fiona qualified as a solicitor in Ireland in 2008. She was later admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in England and Wales in 2010. Prior to joining Caytons Law, she worked in a well-regarded Irish general practice for a number of years. Fiona has experience in dealing with all aspects of claims against solicitors and other professionals.

Tom Morris

Tom gained a First in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge, before converting to law. He was called to the Bar in 2010 and is a Lord Denning Scholar of Lincoln's Inn. He achieved a commendation in the Graduate Diploma in Law and a distinction in an LLM at King's College London. His LLM included modules in ICT Law, Civil Procedure and Clinical Negligence, in all of which he obtained a distinction.

Prior to joining Caytons Law, Tom completed a pupillage at Hailsham Chambers where he focused on professional negligence. He covered all major areas of chambers' practice, clinical negligence and professional negligence (including actions against solicitors, surveyors, financial advisors and auditors). Since joining Caytons Law as in-house Counsel, Tom has adapted well to private practice, and currently assists in a range of cases.

Sam is a qualified solicitor. Prior to joining Caytons Law Sam worked for another professional indemnity practice as a claims handler dealing with claims against professionals.

During his time at Caytons Law as a trainee Sam completed the Legal Practice Course obtaining a distinction. Sam deals with claims against solicitors, insurance brokers and architects and other professionals engaged in the construction industry. Of particular note, Sam acted on behalf of a firm of solicitors who were being sued for negligent advice in relation to a lease along with 19 other firms of solicitors. Sam successfully assisted in the defence of a claim at court on the basis of a limitation defence which no other firm pursued. Sam also advises on appointments and collateral warranties.

Angela is a qualified solicitor. She obtained a 2:1 Law degree and completed the LPC with Distinction.

At Caytons Law, Angela specialises in professional negligence and insurance litigation on behalf of insurers. Primarily, Angela works on solicitors negligence cases, construction cases and coverage disputes. She also advises our construction clients on warranties and appointments. Angela has litigated claims at all levels including resolving claims within the pre-action protocols, arbitration, adjudication and mediation.

Nicola graduated from University College Cork with a First Class Honours law degree in 2007. Following her undergraduate degree, Nicola completed a Master's degree in law in 2009.

Prior to joining Caytons, Nicola trained in a reputable law firm in Dublin and received an award from the Law Society of Ireland for her academic achievements. Nicola qualified as a solicitor in 2013 and upon qualification worked as an assistant solicitor specialising in commercial law. Nicola is qualified as a solicitor in both Ireland and England.

At Caytons Law, Nicola assists on professional negligence cases involving solicitors and other professionals.

Alex achieved an Upper Second in Political Science & Government at the London School of Economics before converting to law. He achieved a commendation in both the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course.

Alex joined Caytons Law as a Trainee Solicitor and qualified in September 2015. During Alex’s training, he primarily focussed on professional negligence cases and policy coverage issues. He has defended a variety of solicitors’ negligence cases in relation to failed litigation, lender claims, administration of wills, IT disputes and matrimonial disputes. Alex is particularly interested in Loss of Chance claims and recently persuaded a Claimant (and her solicitors) of the merits to discontinue a substantial claim two weeks before trial that she had been pursuing for over two years.

Alison obtained a first class honours degree in Psychology from Royal Holloway, the University of London, before converting to law, completing both the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in London. Prior to joining Caytons Law as a trainee, Alison worked for a large dispute resolution service, resolving insurance disputes and providing training and guidance in respect of the effects of recent changes to insurance law.

Since joining Caytons Law, Alison has supported in claims involving professionals, and assisted in advising on appointments and collateral warranties.

Danijel Sudar

Danijel is a trainee solicitor with Caytons Law. He obtained a 2:1 Law degree from the University of East Anglia and completed the LPC with a Distinction at the University of Westminster, where he was also awarded the Sweet and Maxwell Law Prize for the highest grades in his year. Prior to joining Caytons Law, Danijel worked for a number of prominent International Law firms, gaining valuable experience in commercial litigation and arbitration disputes. Danijel has also worked in Canada where he gained experience in general practice.

Since joining Caytons Law, Danijel has supported in claims involving professionals and assisted in advising on appointments and collateral warranties.

Kelly obtained a 2:1 Law Degree in 2011. Prior to joining Caytons Law as a paralegal, Kelly undertook work experience placements gaining experience in professional negligence claims before completing her degree. Since joining Caytons Law in 2011, Kelly has assisted in defending claims against a wide range of professionals with a particular focus on claims against solicitors. She has also been exposed to cases concerning a variety of underlying matters, including litigation, conveyancing and administration of wills. In addition she has also been involved in disputes involving coverage. Kelly has now extended into the Irish jurisdiction and is currently involved in a large commercial claim. Kelly became senior legal assistant in 2015.

Jordan attained a First Class Law degree in 2011 and was awarded the Sweet and Maxwell Law Prize. Prior to joining Caytons Law in March 2012 as a paralegal, Jordan gained valuable experience working for the Citizens Advice Bureau. Jordan became a legal assistant at Caytons Law in December 2012. At Caytons Law, Jordan works on English and Irish claims in professional negligence and insurance litigation on behalf of insurers, brokers and corporate clients, Jordan assists in defending claims against a wide range of professionals. In addition, Jordan has advised on numerous coverage issues.

Somme attained a 2:1 Law degree from Brunel University. Before joining Caytons Law as a paralegal, Somme gained invaluable experience at a number of law firms whilst completing his degree, before deciding to specialise in professional negligence.

Somme's main role is to provide support for the staff at Caytons Law in professional negligence claims, predominantly claims against solicitors.

Before joining Caytons Law Michael obtained a First Class Law degree from the University of Essex and went on to achieve a Commendation in the LPC (LLM), opting to complete a Masters in Civil Litigation. After gaining experience in both UK and law firms abroad Michael has decided to specialise in Professional Indemnity law and practice.

Michael’s role within the firm is to assist the staff at Caytons Law in all aspects of case management and administration.
